Brian & Shannon Bondy

We were introduced by mutual friends in the summer of 2001, but we really didn’t notice each other until New Year’s Eve. After ringing in the New Year together, Brian was preparing to head back to his co-op in Ottawa when Shannon got the courage to ask him out (Or Brian got the courage to ask her out depending on who you ask).

They went out on their first date on the eve of Brian leaving and communicated only through MSN Messenger and emails for the next 7 months while Brian was in Ottawa and Waterloo. When he returned in the summer of 2002, they officially began dating.

The next three years were spent traveling back and forth between Waterloo, Kingston and Windsor as Brian completed his university degree. When Brian moved back permanently in 2005, he bought a house and a year later he persuaded Shannon to move in with him.

Their first act together, as a “living together” couple was to pick out a puppy to keep Shannon’s two cats company in their home. They came across a website with Border Collie puppies and immediately fell in love in with them. The day their puppy “Leia” was coming home, Shannon was working so Brian went to pick the puppy up. When Shannon arrived home from work, she found the house empty with a trail of red roses leading her towards their backyard. Shannon followed the roses to Brian & Leia, and the puppy happily ran up to her showing Shannon a small paper in her collar. Shannon opened the paper to find a picture of Brian holding a ring. She looked back at Brian to see him down on one knee with the ring. This was June 2 of 2006.
